The Minnesota Board of Pharmacy (BOP) is using Appriss Health's PMP Gateway service to integrate access to Minnesota Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) reports from within approved Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Pharmacy Managment Systems (PMS). Through available grant funding, the BOP will cover the licensing fees associated with the integration service, from September 1, 2020 through August 31, 2021, for Minnesota healthcare entities electing to connect their EHR or PMS to PMP Gateway.
Monit Log File
This integration will eliminate the need for prescribers and pharmacists to navigate to the Minnesota PMP website, log in, and enter their patient’s information. Instead, the EHR or PMS will automatically initiate a patient search, which when requested by an authorized account holder, will return a view of the patient’s controlled substance prescription report, inside the EHR or PMS, without leaving the clinical workflow. The integration will continue to provide access to the NarxCare analytics tool and care management platform, which helps prescribers and dispensers analyze PMP data and manage substance use disorder.
Many healthcare electronic record systems are already connected or in development to integrate with the PMP Gateway. You can see the status of your software system; CLICK HERE to view the current vendor status list. Please note there may be additional costs incurred to upgrade or develop your entity's software version to enable integration; these costs are the responsibility of the healthcare entity.

Supporting Patient Care Since 2010
The Minnesota Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) is a tool to be used by prescribers and pharmacists to assist in managing their patient’s care. It contains information provided by Minnesota licensed pharmacies and prescriber dispensers. Pharmacies and prescribers who dispense from their office submit prescription data to the PMP system for all Schedules II, III, IV and V controlled substances, butalbital and gabapentin dispensed in or into Minnesota. This protected health information is collected and stored securely. Minnesota licensed prescribers and pharmacists, and their delegated staff may be authorized to access information from the PMP database. The program was implemented to promote public health and welfare by detecting diversion, abuse and misuse of prescriptions for controlled substances as defined in Minnesota Statutes Section 152.126.
The MN PMP anticipates no service interuption due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
